Funky Dragon is the Children and Young People’s Assembly for Wales. It was set up in 2002 and achieved charitable status in 2004. It became the first charity in the UK to have under 18’s recognised as trustee members and currently works with children aged 6 to 25 years old, through a variety of methods.  It was established to enable the participation of Children and Young People and as an instrument for the Welsh Assembly to listen to the views of young people on issues that affect them

One way this is achieved is through the Grand Council which consists of 100 young people from all over Wales aged 11 to 25. They meet directly with Ministers at the Funky Dragon Annual General Meeting to discuss the issues and concerns of the young people they represent.  The Grand Council meets up another three times a year and drive the work of the organisation which ensures it is young people led.

Work with the under 11's is relatively new and started back in 2007.  This website is for children and professionals working with children and will tell you about the work we are doing in Wales at the moment.  If there’s anything you’d like to see on the website, or want any information about what we do in Funky Dragon then please get in touch with us through the ‘contact us’ button.
